Festa in Trieste - Wajda School's Birthday
Category: Events, Festivals, VariousThe 10th anniversary of the Wajda School has reached the halfway stage. On this occasion, the International Film Festival in Trieste presents films made at the Wajda School, as well as those in whose development and production the school was involved. In the retrospective we will be able to see 18 titles: documentaries alongside short and full-length features, special screenings and meetings with guests.
Between 19 and 25 January, Trieste will host the 23rd edition of the International Film Festival, which this year is focused on Polish cinema. This year the festival has invited the Wajda School to give a retrospective of its most interesting films. One of the special events of this year's festival in Trieste is a screening of "The Shivers" by Wojciech Marczewski, who ten years ago co-founded the School along with Andrzej Wajda.
Guests at the festival will include Maciej Sobieszczański - lecturer at the Wajda School, whose film "Birthday" (produced by the Wajda Studio, Studio Munka - Polish Filmmakers Association, TVP and the Polish Film Institute) will be shown in the retrospective. Along with him, French director Thierry Paladino will come to Trieste - he is a graduate of the Wajda School and will present three documentaries: "At the Datcha" (as director), "Andrzej Wajda: Let's Shoot!" (as co-director) and "North from Calabria" (as the second director and actor).
In addition to the retrospective of the most award-winning short stories and documentaries, the screenings will include some full-length titles, including some of the Wajda Studio's co-productions. Among them there is the already mentioned fable-like documentary "North from Calabria" (produced by Studio Munka - Polish Filmmakers Association) and "The Christening" (produced by Odeon Rybarczyk Productions Ltd.). Additionally, audiences will be able to see the movie "Out of Love" (produced by Vostok8) whose script was the winner of the SCRIPT PRO 2005 contest (then known as the Hartley-Merrill contest) conducted by the Wajda School.
