Special Mention Award for "3 Days of Freedom" at the Visions du Réel Festival in Nyon!

Łukasz Borowski received a special mention award at the Visions du Réel International Documentary Film Festival in Nyon, which took place from 20-27 April. The International Short Film Competition Jury appreciated the "3 Days of Freedom" for "a profound meditation on personal freedom and its loss..." Congratulations!

During the Film and Music Festival "Küstendorf", which ended on Monday, and which was founded by Emir Kusturica, the Piotr Subbotko film entitled "Glasgow" was awarded the Bronze Egg prize. This is the fifth award won by the short feature produced under the "30 minutes" programme, a joint initiative of the Studio Munka Polish Film Association, the Wajda Studio, the TVP and the Polish Film Institute.

The Wajda School production '3 dni wolności' [3 Days of Freedom] directed by Łukasz Borowski was awarded as the best Polish short documentary at the 11. New Horizons International Film Festival, which ended yesterday. 

GLASGOW BY PIOTR SUBBOTKO AWARDED IN ARMENIA

Glasgow directed by Piotr Subbotko has been awarded at the 8th International Film Festival Golden Apricot in Yerevan, the capital of Armenia, where it participated in the Short Film Competition. The film was produced as part of the 30 minutes programme, a joint initiative of the SFP Munk Studio, the Wajda School, TVP Kultura and the Polish Film Institute. The participation of this film in the competition was accompanied by a special screening of films from the Wajda School and Wojciech Marczewski's visit with his retrospective.

"MOTHER" BY JAKUB PIĄTEK AWARDED AGAIN

Jakub Piątek's short entitled "Mother" has been appreciated once again. This time, the film participated in the Main Competition of the 9th International Short Film Festival "In the Palace" in Bulgarian city of Balchik, where it was awarded as the Best Documentary.

FILMS FROM THE EKRAN PROGRAMME THE BEST DEBUTS

Films developed at EKRAN – the international programme at the Andrzej Wajda School– 'Lęk wysokości' [Fear of Falling] by Bartek Konopka and 'Wymyk' [Courage] by Greg Zglinski (prod. Opus Film) were awarded best debut or second best film at the 36th Polish Film Festival in Gdynia. 'Courage' also received the award for the best script written by Greg Zglinski and Janusz Margański. Furthermore, two other titles developed at EKRAN took part in the 36th Polish Film Festival competition – 'Daas' by Adrian Panek (prod. Argomedia Productions) and 'Ki' directed by Leszek Dawid (prod. Skorpion Arte), for which Roma Gąsiorowska was awarded for the best leading role performed by an actress. In addition, Gabriela Muskała received the award for performance by an actress in a supporting role, for the film 'Courage'.

AWARDS IN THE SCRIPT PRO 2011

The award ceremony of the Script Competition SCRIPT PRO 2011, organised by the Andrzej Wajda School and the Off Plus Camera Festival, was held on 13 April at the official gala in Krakow. The HBO Main Prize went to Wiktor Kubica of Groń for his script 'Recepta' .
