PREMIERE SCREENING
OF THE DOCUMENTARY FILM
ABOUT ANDRZEJ WAJDA
AT THE PLANET DOC REVIEW
On 13 May, within the Planet Doc Review, there shall take place a premiere screening of the documentary film 'Andrzej Wajda: róbmy zdjęcie! [Andrzej Wajda: Let's Shoot!]'. The film was produced by the Andrzej Wajda School in cooperation with Telekomunikacja Polska.
At this year's Planete Doc Review there will be presented the latest film by the Andrzej Wajda School graduates, who created Zespół Filmowy Paladino [the Paladino Film Team]: Maciej Cuske, Thierry Paladino, Marcin Sauter and Piotr Stasik. Produced by the Andrzej Wajda School in cooperation with Telekomunikacj± Polska, the film 'Andrzej Wajda: róbmy zdjęcie! [Andrzej Wajda: Let's Shoot!]' is a portrait of the director shooting the most personal of his films – 'Katyń'.
The young filmmakers accompanied him in moments of concentration, fatigue and joy, during talks with his actors and crew. By observing his work on the set, the viewer has a chance to see what Andrzej Wajda really is like - extraordinary for his sensitivity, passion, and the feeling of mission. On 13 May, the premiere screening ceremony will take place in the Kinoteka cinema in Warsaw.
At this year's planet Doc Review there are also two other films produced by the Andrzej Wajda School: 'A Beautiful Misunderstanding' by Paweł Ferdek, 'Londek' by Rafał Żurek, and 'Królik po berlińsku [Rabbit à la Berlin]' by Bartek Konopek produced by MS Films and supported by the Wajda School.
'A Beautiful Misunderstanding' tells a story of three dancers: Danya from Israel, Renata from Poland and Marcus from Germany, who arrive in Jerusalem wanting to comment on the reality and to express their views on the most important - in their opinion - issues by means of street dancing. But will the inhabitants of this multicultural and colorful city appreciate their efforts? The film was made as part of the Triangle Dialogue program, produced by the Andrzej Wajda Master School of Film Directing, Poland, IFS Internationale Filmschule Koeln, Germany and the Sam Spiegel Film&TV School from Jerusalem.
'Londek' is a film about friendship, confrontation of dreams with reality and seeking one's place in multicultural Europe. Rafał, 37, sets out for London in search of his friends who emigrated from Poland back in the 1990’s. Once they used to form a tight punk band – do they still have anything in common?
The film 'Królik po berlińsku [Rabbit à la Berlin]' produced by the graduate of the Wajda School Bartek Konopka, tells a story of thousands of rabbits which lived in the Death Zone of the Berlin Wall. The film is an allegory which brings closer the history of Eastern Europe as seen from a 'rabbit' perspective. For director Bartek Konopka and cinematographer Piotr Rosołowski it is a second attempt, after 'Ballada o kozie [Goat Walker]', to tell about people through the prism of animals. 'Królik po berlińsku' is an international project financed by MDR, RBB and ARTE televisions and by Polish television TVP1. It was also co-financed by: Finnish television YLE, Belgian Lichtpunt and Dutch VPRO. The film was produced with the support of the MEDIA programme, the Andrzej Wajda Master School of Film Directing and the Polish Film Institute. The producers are: MS Films, Poland and majade Filmproduktion, Germany.
