TWO COURSES HAVE STARTED AT WAJDA SCHOOL

In January, the following editions of two courses organized by the Andrzej Wajda School have started: the Documentary Course and the Feature Film Course ‘Studio Prób’ [Development Lab]. Both courses consist of two stages and last 2 years – there are about 40 participants in total. In accordance with the principle 'from script to screen’, participants develop their own ideas under the supervision of tutors and the best projects are selected and produced.

DEVELOPMENT LAB is an intensive feature film course already organized for the fifth time, within which the applied full-length or thirty minute film projects are developed and at the second stage, participants shoot two scenes from their scripts. Course covers the pre-production process, script consultations, screen tests, production and editing of chosen scenes from scenarios. Tutors and supervisors of 'Studio Prób' are: Andrzej Wajda, Wojciech Marczewski, Edward Żebrowski, Joanna Krauze, Denijal Hasanović, Maciej Sobieszczański and invited guests – prominent filmmakers.

The idea of the DOCUMENTARY COURSE, which has been organised since 2003 (this is the sixth edition), is ‘from script to screen’. Each participant proposes an idea for the film and the best projects are produced under the artistic supervision of lecturers, who provide advice and support at every stage, from the development and research to editing and sound post production. The documentary course is led by: Marcel Łoziński, Jacek Bławut and Vita Żelakeviciute.

Among those who graduated from our courses, there are such filmmakers as Sławomir Fabicki ('Męska sprawa [A Man Thing]', 'Z odzysku [Retrieval]'), Andrzej Saramonowicz ('Ciało [The Body]', 'Testosteron [Testosterone]'), Anna Jadowska ('Teraz ja [It's Me Now]'), Dariusz Gajewski ('Warszawa [Warsaw]'), Michał Walczak ('Podróż do wnętrza pokoju [The Journey to the Inside of the Room]', 'Piaskownica [Sandpit]'), Krzysztof Bizio ('Porozmawiajmy o życiu i śmierci [Let's Talk about Life and Death]', 'Toksyny [Toxin]'), Marcin Wrona ('Pasożyt [The Parasite]', 'Skaza [The Flaw]').
Also the following filmmakers made their debuts at our courses: Maciej Cuske ('Kuracja [The Cure]', 'Antykwariat [The Old Book Store]'), Marcin Sauter ('Za płotem [Behind the Fence]', 'Kino objazdowe [The Travelling Cinema]'), Bartek Konopka ('Ballada o kozie [The Goat Walker]'), Thierry Paladino ('Na działce [At the Dacha]'), Marcin Janos Krawczyk ('Rendez-vous'), Jacob Dammas ('Kredens [The Cupboard]').
